This term has been busy with a focus on preparing students for GCSEs, A-levels, EPQ submission, portfolio submissions for vocational qualifications, and Functional Skills exams. We will be delighted to see a number of our current students returning to us in September, and thrilled that several others have had successful college applications.
Our Outreach Programme is now in action; a number of students and families are receiving mentoring support, with the young people able to come into our provision and access the education they deserve. This will help them greatly with wider choices in the future.
As part of our Inclusion Calendar we spent time highlighting Earth Day and Mental Health Week, alongside appointing our first ever Student Council Representative – well done Teddy!
The Music Department has seen significant investment with new iMacs, MIDI keyboards, Ukuleles, Djembes, and a wide range of percussion instruments now being used across the cohort from Key Stage 3 upwards.
The Library is going from strength to strength, and the implementation of Apple School Manager has allowed us to deploy numerous education apps at the touch of a button.
We are working hard to develop our Sensory Programme, starting with the common room which now has a much greater focus on meeting the sensory needs of our students. This includes revolving activities in the common room and sensory areas in the classrooms, developed by Ravina. We also have the beginnings of a sensory garden, from which our home-grown herbs are making their delicious way into our cookery lessons.
As always, we are grateful for parent/carer support and ask that all absence and ongoing absence is reported on a daily basis.
Emily Gunton, Head of In Toto London
