It has been another busy half term in London, interspersed with lots of bank holidays! We have developed a library area for students and have begun filling the shelves with classics and best sellers, with a clear eye on equality, diversity, and representation. Jhelisa, our new English teacher, has been busy preparing Year 11 for their GCSE English Language exams and our science teacher Shilpa has been bringing Science to life in her lab, with experiments being at the heart of her teaching. I am delighted that along with Jhelisa, we have welcomed Charmer, our new music teacher, who brings a wealth of teaching and musical experience with her.
The new gym has arrived and despite the small size of the room we have a rowing machine, exercise bike, bench and leg press, and a huge boxing punch bag. Along with the amazing outside space of the Heath, our students have access to a wide range of sports and facilities, and I am pleased that despite being a small centre, we are able to offer our students so many sporting opportunities.
We have recently taken over the top floor of the building to be able to cater for the needs of more students. This is currently under refurbishment and will be open from September, allowing us to develop our beauty provision, teaching space and provided a much-needed staff room.
Cookery continues to be a big focus for many of our students with seafood dishes now planned for after half term. We can’t wait!
